How to print your ESIC card as a PVC card
- Make sure your Aadhaar is linked, so you have the e-Pehchan and not the temporary TIC. (Why this matters is below.)
- Get the PDF from your employer, or sign in to the ESIC Insured Person portal.
- Choose the PDF in the tool above. You are asked for a password only when the file really has one.
- Check the preview. We have not yet tested the tool on real e-Pehchan PDFs, so the box may need moving with Crop not right? Adjust.
- Save the card (600 DPI is best) or the A4 sheet, and print at 100% scale.
TIC first, then e-Pehchan
This is the part that confuses most people. When your employer registers you online, the first card is a Temporary Identification Certificate (TIC). ESIC says:
- the TIC is valid for 30 days only;
- once your Aadhaar is linked to your insurance number, the TIC becomes the e-Pehchan, the permanent card.
So if your PDF still says Temporary Identification Certificate, do not print it on PVC. It stops being valid after 30 days. Get Aadhaar linked first, then print the e-Pehchan.
Your insurance number stays the same for life, even if you change jobs or move. ESIC also gives a separate Pehchan card for your family, so they can get treatment where they live.
Signing in to the ESIC portal
- On esic.gov.in, open the Insured Person / Beneficiary login.
- The first time, choose Sign Up. Enter your insurance number, date of birth and mobile number, as your employer registered them.
- Enter the OTP sent to that mobile, then set a password.
- Sign in with your insurance number (IP number) as the user name.
That password is for the portal. We have not seen a published password rule for the card PDF itself.
Printing tip for ESIC
Check that the insurance number is sharp on the preview. It stays the same for life, so a clear print is worth the care. For every print setting, see the PVC card print size guide.
