Your document is never uploaded
When you choose a PDF, it is opened and cropped by your own browser using JavaScript running on your device. The file is read with a standard browser API and held only in your device memory. It is never transmitted to this site server, never written to any database, and never seen by anyone.
This is not a promise about how carefully we handle your file. It is a property of how the site is built: there is no upload endpoint for a document to be sent to. When you close the tab, nothing of your document remains anywhere.
The same is true of your password, if your PDF has one. It is used by your browser to unlock the file locally and is never transmitted.
What is recorded
To improve how accurately the tool finds a card on the page, the site may record the position of the crop box. That record contains:
- four numbers describing the rectangle, as fractions of the page
- which document type you selected, and the State or UT if you chose one
- which page of the PDF the card was on
- whether the position was found automatically or corrected by you
- the page width-to-height ratio
That is the complete list. It does not include your file, any part of its contents, its file name, any image, your name, your document number, or anything else that could identify you or your document.
You can switch this off. On the results screen there is a line explaining what was recorded, with a link to turn it off. Your choice is remembered in your own browser.
Accounts, and how the tool is used
You do not need an account to crop a file. An account exists only to hold a batch plan. If you create one, we store your email address and a one-way hash of your password. We do not ask for your name, your phone number or your address.
To keep the free tool working for everyone and to find misuse, we keep a short record of how much the tool is used. Each entry holds:
- what happened — a crop, a batch run, a sign-in, or being stopped by the free limit
- when it happened
- your account, if you were signed in
- a random identifier your browser is given, which identifies the browser and not you
- a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself
- for a batch, how many files were in it — a number, nothing more
That is the complete list. It does not record what you cropped: no file, no file name, no part of a document, no image and no crop position is stored in it. These entries are deleted after 30 days.
We use them to answer one kind of question: is a single paid account being shared by many people, or is somebody working around the free limit. We do not use them to build a profile of you, and we do not share them.
If you have a paid batch plan, we also keep three things with the plan: when the current paid period started, the time of your first batch run in that period, and how many batch runs you started. These decide refund requests (see the refund policy), so they are not deleted after 30 days. They start again from zero with each new paid period and are deleted with your account. They hold nothing about your files.
Server logs
Like any website, the web server records ordinary request information such as IP address, browser type and the time of the request. These logs are kept for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies
This site sets no tracking cookies and no advertising cookies of its own. The only third-party cookie it can cause is Google reCAPTCHA's, and only when the bot check is on and you open an account form (see below). Your preferences, such as turning off crop recording, are stored in your browser local storage and never sent anywhere.
If advertising is added to this site in future, this page will be updated before it goes live to describe what those advertisements set, and a consent notice will be shown where the law requires one.
Third parties
The site loads no third-party scripts, fonts, analytics or content delivery networks, with one exception: the bot check on the account forms.
When the bot check is switched on, opening the Sign in or Create account form loads Google reCAPTCHA. It sends Google information about your browser and device so it can tell people from bots, and it may set its own cookie. Google's Privacy Policy and Terms apply to it. The cropping tool and the guide pages never load it, and your PDF is never part of it. Nothing else about your visit is shared with another company.
Children
This site is a printing utility and is not directed at children.
Your rights
If you have never created an account, we hold nothing that identifies you, so there is normally nothing to retrieve, correct or delete.
If you have an account, you may ask us for a copy of what we hold about it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete the account and everything attached to it. Use the details on the contact page. Usage entries are deleted automatically after 30 days in any case.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the change will appear here before it takes effect.
